Local Cuisine.



The local cuisine in Rodrigues is mainly Creole related food but there is also the influence from India and China and europe in the kitchen.From the beginning people lived here mostly on what is caught in the lagoon, which is squid, fish and crabs. but also chicken, pork and beef is eaten. Together with rice and they make deliciouse curry's for dinner.



There is also more inland more agriculture where tropical fruits like mango and limon are harvested and eaten. At stores you will find little yars of chutney, mostly with added spices which are used to spice up our local foods. Try one of our local grown peppers, they are famouse for being extra extra spicy (very hot). Also the local honey is of a very good quality and tastest deliciouse. As for traditional dishes, at Coco Villa we can provide you these for your dinner and with enough guests we even get some local music with it to make the ambiance complete.
Of course we have as the seasons go, fresh coconuts which you drink the juice from and eat the cocos out the inside from it. As the name goes, Coco Villa.
